From jana at janajackson.com Fri May 7 04:36:30 2010 From: jana at janajackson.com (Jana Jackson) Date: Fri, 7 May 2010 03:36:30 -0500 Subject: [JJMNews] How You Can Help Message-ID: <0A4BC5DDEBC84D23ADF2A06297E26F58@user735a5b1bf2> Hi, everybody!! Wow, it's been a LONG time, much longer than I ever thought it would be! :) I specifically wanted to share a few things with you today, so let's get right to it!! First of all, if you live in the Nashville area, or just about anywhere in Tennessee, for that matter, I pray that you are okay! Most of you know by now that Tennessee faced record floods last weekend ... They came quickly, and so did the damage!! I can't see all the pictures, but I'm told that in some ways, the scene is eerily similar to Hurricane Katrina. But in the middle of the devastation have come stories of hope and a determination to start over. I don't remember ever being more proud to call Nashville Home!! Stories of extremely heroic rescue and volunteer efforts abound as the residents of Tennessee work together to rebuild our beloved state! All week I've been asking myself what I could do. I would gladly volunteer, and maybe I will ... But for now, I feel that the best way I can help is to get the word out about churches and ministries that are making a difference. If you prefer to donate to or volunteer for a ministry as opposed to a government-based organization, here are a few that I've come across that you might want to check out ... They're REALLY making a difference and offering compassion and hope to the victims of this crisis! If you know of others I should add, let me know, and I will post them in a future letter. In fact, while I know of many, I'm going to mention only 5 here: 1. The Journey Church, Franklin, TN A small but mighty ministry, Pastor Jamie George and his flock have been taking food, water, and whatever else was needed to neighborhoods that were hit hard by the floods. To find out more about what they're doing, visit http://journeyfranklin.com Or call 615-791-8600. 2. Christ Church, Nashville, TN A place that has been close to my heart for well over 20 years, Christ Church is definitely stepping up to the plate during this time. I follow them on Facebook, and I have read their pleas for contributions and volunteers to aid in their efforts. Visit http://christchurchnashville.org or call 615-834-6171 to see how you can help. 3. The People's Church, Franklin, TN This wonderful church was there from the beginning, setting up a shelter for those who had to leave their homes. Pastor Rick White says that you can donate to their efforts or find out how to volunteer by visiting their Website, http://thepeopleschurch.org 4. Mount Zion Baptist Church, Nashville, TN One of the largest churches in Tennessee, this Spirit-filled church is known for reaching out to Middle Tennessee. To find out more about what they're doing at this time, visit http://mtzionnashville.org 5. The Tennessee District of the Assemblies Of God i would be remiss if I didn't mention the efforts of the Tennessee district of the Assemblies Of God, which my dad served so faithfully for so many years!! Not only does their excellent site contain links for you to contribute financially, but practical needs from churches are listed there, so that you can contact individual churches. For more information, please visit http://tnaog.org/flood/index.cgi Again, if you know of others, please let me know!! The body of Christ has been given an amazing opportunity to show hurting people that Jesus cares and hasn't forgotten about them!! Thanks in advance for your help ... And thanks for your prayers for the residents of the affected areas of Tennessee!! On a lighter note, before I go, I do want to tell you about changes in The Living Room, my weekly on-line radio show. Some of you may have assumed that I had discontinued the show ... I haven't done that, but I am now on the air about 45 minutes earlier than before. You can now join me every Friday afternoon from 2:15 to 5:00 CST at http://thepowerstation.uk.com and I hope you will!! In honor of the fact that we celebrate Mother's Day on Sunday here in the U.S., and taking into consideration the fact that the UK, where The Living Room is being hosted, has already celebrated it ... We're honoring beautiful, strong, godly women this week! Music from MANY of your favorite female Christian artists, great comedy, and a reading or two from Yours Truly ... It's gonna be a GREAT show!! And if you want to hear a special song from a special lady, let me know, and I'll see if I have it. If you can't tune in today, no worries ... You'll be able to download the entire show soon!! Well, I'm up WAY past my bedtime ... A few tech issues tonight, which is the story of my life! Oh, but I almost forgot ... If you're on Twitter, Facebook or both, I hope you'll consider being one of my followers/friends! On Twitter, you can find me @ janajackson2010. On FB, you should be able to find me by searching for my name ... If that doesn't work, just search for my email address, bookings at janajackson.com/. I do a lot of interacting, especially during The Living Room!! :) Closing for now, so that I can actually stay awake during today's show ... Have an awesome Friday, and for the moms among us, have a happy Mother's day this sunday!! God bless!!
