I guess I have always known that God had a special purpose for my life. The product of a wonderful Christian home, I began my relationship with Him at the age of three. Throughout my childhood, my life revolved around listening to and singing Christian music. As a teenager, I made a serious commitment to give the voice God had given me back to Him and began to prepare myself vocally and spiritually for the ministry I felt He was calling me to.
After graduating from Belmont University in May 1986 with a B.A. in commercial music, I began my solo concert ministry. From the beginning I felt called to challenge Christians to a deeper walk with Christ and to encourage hurting people that there is no battle that cannot be overcome with His help.
God has helped me to overcome many obstacles in my own life. I prefer to think of these obstacles as "technical difficulties", since they are only temporary. Some are obvious and some are hidden, but God is faithful to work in and through our lives if we can leave the technical difficulties in His hands.
Although I was born totally blind (which just means I have a more obvious technical difficulty), I have never felt I have been excused from doing what the Holy Spirit compels me to do. The road may get rough at times, but if we know that we are walking in God's perfect plan for our lives, we can always count on His grace. We can "rejoice, for the steps of a righteous man are ordered of God".
I am amazed at the way God is ordering the steps of this ministry. It is truly a privilege to be a part of what He is doing in the Body of Christ. I am seeing hearts encouraged and lives changed as God's people begin to realize what it means to have a one-on-one friendship with Him. Many people have had an experience with God, but haven't allowed their spiritual eyes to become completely focused on Him. It is my prayer that the Lord will create in His church a desire to see Him as he reveals Himself to us. As we see Him more clearly, may the Body of Christ be drawn together as one in Him.
